This book is basically Body for Life w/ juice (steroids).Which is interesting because a lot of the before and after photos in Body for Life were on juice---they just didn't admit it.Good book.I personally feel he recommends overtraining, but that's really all a matter of opinion.This is an important read for all males over the age of about 30.He's spot on in all his recommendations... I trust him, I like him and he's the real deal.

This book is straight to the pint as well as the "21 Pounds In 21 Days". Again, this is not Dr. J. Life's most recent book, but due to my financial budget, I also got this book for about $3.00 used. Dr. Life's book has a lot of pix of exercises and includes some information about "Genetics" which is totally new to me. I like the realistic pictures of some of the studies who had those "Pot Bellies" and then went to normal age looking but slimmer shapes. Then there were those who looked like Dr. Life with from the neck down, it looks like an edited pix. I will be incorporating the techniques illustrated into my budget of courser and using his website for different strategies. It sucks to be on a show string budget but oh so real!:-]] I recommend the book for all those who are seriously considering using weights for the first time, like myself at age 50 plus. It looks like a lot of low impact exercises. Although, I don't know if a trainer would be better, it sure is a bit more pricey and out of my league.

This is a great read with a ton of information supported by research and backed up with lots of references for the aging over 50 population, it encouraged me to start taking a different approach to me health. I have since changed my exercise routine and diet habbits and I am down about 20 pounds and am much healthier because of it. Finding a doctor who will believe you truly are being objective about your aging and want to be proactive in it is difficult to do. You may want to research doctors in your area who follow the same path of logic.

Pretty much a sales tool for the Cenagenics program. Gives some good advice on supplements. The exercise and nutrition parts can be found in most fitness lifestyle books. It wasn't worth the price.

I'd been researching and trying a number of approaches to diet and exercise, including ideas from the four hour body, the slow carb diet, body by science, the bulletproof exec, power to the people etc, but the Life plan added new perspective in a way that I finally got it, and in addressing some of the weaknesses in my fitness plan I'm getting much closer to shaving off those last few stubborn pounds of the spare tire. I find Dr Life to be an encouraging example of the level of fitness it is possible to achieve and maintain even at an age where most men have given up.

I did not like this book. The plans suggested are very high T injections and may not be what is accepted by the industry as normal therapy. Better to do some cardio and resistance training and eat a good diet than mess around with this level of T injections

This was a pop up on line ad. Looked up Cenergenics Center and purchased it. It is a very good book. It gives you a great nutrition plan to follow as well as an exercise program. With the exercise program you will need time in the gym. Dr Life spent a lot of time in the gym to get to where he is today and at the center. If you have the time the exercises will work. If not do the best you can with the exercises. The nutrition program will help you loose weight. I do recommend this if you are into the gym.

The Life Plan is excellent. Dr. Life recommends that men get tested for low testosterone, which can cause a lot of health problems, and if low, begin testosterone replacement therapy. The book also recommends eating more but smaller meals each day, and furnishes detailed information regarding proper diet, healthy recipes, and physical exercises, to improve health and muscle tone. Dr. Life does not recommend testosterone solely for better performance in sports. He recommends testosterone only if testing indicates treatment is necessary. Dr. Life also has a Website offering a lot more information regarding this subject; including products (expensive) if desired, and personal treatment and advice from Dr. Life. This is a very comprehensive book about health for men.

This book says it was co-authored by George Lucas and Chris Claremont, so I'm not really sure who to blame more for this hot mess of a story, but either way I'm seriously disappointed. I only made it to page 121 before I finally gave up on it.I wanted SO much to like this book. I'm a huge fan of the movie Willow, and I had known about the book trilogy for some time, so when I finally got around to ordering book one, I couldn't wait to tear into it. I was so looking forward to letting my imagination run wild with more exciting adventures of the characters I'd met in Willow. Unfortunately this book was like a slap in the face to anyone who loved the movie.The writing is wordy, pedantic, wordy, confusing, and wordy. Did I mention it was wordy AND confusing? And BAM! Within the first few chapters, two of the main characters from the movie are killed off! BYE! Oh and by the way, Willow isn't Willow anymore, he's called Thorn. And from the writing, he doesn't look like Willow, sound like Willow, or act like Willow. I fully expected when I started the book that I'd read Willow's dialog in the voice of Warwick Davis. Not so. His book persona was so out of character from the likeable Nelwyn we met in the movie, that they bear not a shred of similarity. The other characters introduced within those first 121 pages are two-dimensional, boring, and frankly unlikeable.My only hope with this book is that I can trade it in at Powell's for a paltry sum in order to get something worth reading.

I enjoy historical fiction. Lucas and Claremont have spun a Fantasy world which comes alive with magic and the things which go bump in the night. Because the characters are flesh and blood, with the strengths and flaws of real people and the situations echo the tensions and battles of medieval Europe, we do not question situations in which myth holds equal standing. I like the realism of the settings and descriptions and the authenticity of emotions. This isn't just another Star Wars. It occupies a world of its own, where nightmares can be very convincing.

I tried very hard to like the book, but it did not hold my interest. I set it down before getting halfway through.

I picked up these books despite the mixed reviews, hoping for a wonderful trilogy in the spirit of Tolkien or Salvatore. Instead I find myself with a trilogy of books I am giving away to the first person who will take them.It wasn't that they killed off so many characters from the movie; it's fiction so anything can happen. What really gets me is his writing: it's horrible. The world of Willow is obviously fantasy, yet the author(s) interject lots of technology and descriptions from a modern world. They have turned this tale of swords and sorcery into something much less than that. Personally, I was very turned off by the constant use of modern descriptors for a fantasy world.It seems like the authors didn't have enough story so they insist on regularly repeating everything that's already happened. Every time a character has a memory of an event they see fit to recap the entire movie and any past books. I find myself skipping entire pages just waiting for the flashbacks to finally end. The same can be said for some descriptions of completely unimportant events. The authors love dwelling on completely unimportant events in the longest detail possible, while the storyline (which really begins to stink by book 2) sits in the wings waiting for its turn.All in all I am only finishing this trilogy because I paid $20 for it. Once I'm done I am giving these away and intent to never pick them up again. They are honestly the worst I have ever read. Ugh!

If you enjoyed Willow, sit down with the Shadow War trilogy, and prepare to see the world we glimpsed in Willow fleshed out - with all the ugliest problems and the most beautiful creatures.Definitely a darker story than the movie, it nonetheless has more depth, and keeps your attention. I loved the series - even though ***SPOILER*** my two favorite characters from the movie are killed off within the first 50 pages of the first book ***END SPOILER***That said, when I began this series, I truly thought "Wow - this is nothing like the movie, I think this is going to be a real stinker". Pushing onward, I quickly became consumed by the storyline, and finshed the series in a very short time.Now my only complaint is that it's over!!Get through the first 1/3 of the first book, and you'll be hooked. Enjoy!

Les Rowntree is a Visiting Scholar at the University of California, Berkeley, where he researches and writes about environmental issues. Dilsaver), Creating Colorado: The Making of a Western American Landscape 1860–1940 (1999), and On the Road Again: Montana’s Changing Landscape (2006). In 2003 he received Montana State’s Cox Family Fund for Excellence Faculty Award for Teaching and Scholarship. I must say after two college degrees, this is one of the best books I've had in any course. It was very informational and up to date with current topics of interest. I learned a lot about the world. The title seems boring, thought I would hate the class but nope, turned out to be one of my favorites simply because of this book. My only complaint is the price but that is typical of textbooks. This one actually has a reason to stay updated and current since it deals with the world in general including the environment, civil rights, economics, war, rebels, etc. If you have a course utilizing this book, consider yourself lucky that you are not taking a boring class!

It is a text book and I have not completed the course as yet.

I used this book for my regional geography class...it was in good condition and it was cheap renting it, rather than buying it new.

World for geography 1300! Came right out time, had no problems what so ever. I'm sorry if you need this book for your class, GOOD LUCK ITS BORING.

I cannot say enough great things about this book. I own all of his books and this one is by far my favorite. The information he presents to the reader is easy to digest and it challenges what you thought you understood about the Old Testament and its relation to the New Testament. I had no idea prior to reading this book that Isaac was not a young boy forced to give himself as a sacrifice, but an adult, who freely did his fathers bidding. That in revelation in itself made this book worth the purchase. Pastor Gallaty's vivid descriptions of traditional Jewish practices that get lost many times in the discussions in Evangelical discussions were very beneficial in allowing me to view things I read from a new perspective.Each chapter of this book uncovered more information on tradition and ceremonial aspects of Jewish culture than I had ever viewed prior to this. These explanations bring so much of the Scriptures into a whole new light for me. It also made me understand Jesus better and the development of his ministry. Descriptions of cultural reasons things occurred in the timeline in which they did were enlightening.Perhaps my favorite part of the book was the description of the woman in John 8 and the discussion of why her healing was truly such a big deal. Had I not had a cultural context in which to associate it to, it would not hold the meaning it does now that I have read this book. Chapter 8 was a blessing during this week of Easter as well. "A Colt-Riding, Table-Turning, Tree-Cursing Messiah". Read it first if you buy it before Easter.This book was wonderful. The illustrations, the history and tradition, the backing of scriptural comparisons, all formed to make a surprisingly easy read. I feel that reading this has made me a better believer, a better small group leader, and a better disciple of Christ.I highly encourage it. I look forward to buying whatever he puts out next!

Donâ€™t hesitate to grab this book! There are several reasons why, but here are my top twoâ€¦1.Something Old Is Something New â€“ Robby states: â€œone out of every twenty-two verses in the New Testament contains quotations from the Old Testament.â€ Knowing this reality the 21st century church must admit we are guilty of thinking of the New Testament as inferior to the Old Testament, assuming that 1st century Jewish culture is similar to our own, etc. Robby helps us by running back to the â€œJewishness of our faithâ€ by getting a hold off this truth: Something old is something new. You can't separate the Old Testament from the New Testament. Robby's hope for this book is stated well in his own words: â€œBy placing Jesus back into the context from which he came, we are able to see more clearly the miracles he performed, the lessons he taught, and the mission he fulfilled.â€ Robby has accomplished this vision quite well. Many stories from the Gospels that I have known for years came alive in fresh, challenging, and transforming ways after reading The Forgotten Jesus.2. Information To Imitation â€“ We have bought into the fallacy that we can grow by the introduction of new information alone according to Gallaty. Robby notes that Jews devoted time to studying God in order to imitate him. This should be the end goal in mind when we read the Bible. Gallaty provides an excellent case for why we read Scripture, and what spiritual growth looks like: â€œThe more you know Him, the more you love Him. The more you love Him, the more you obey Him. The more you obey Him, the more He manifests Himself to you.â€ So true! Robby Gallaty has impressed me again. I have very much enjoyed this book. It has made me think and question. I appreciate his deep research and desire to teach us, so we can try to understand where Jesus came from. As a person who loves learning about history I found this book full of wonderful facts I was never taught growing up in Church. I love how he brings us back to the Old Testament over and over. I highly recommend this book and I will be giving it out as gifts to friends and family.

A must read! Robby has done a great job in looking at the Jewishness of Jesus. He does a good job in showing how the Old Testament and Jewish culture can shed light on the New Testament. The Jewish "use of both hands" in talking about Scripture is what we need to understand in our American Christianity. I highly recommend this book.

very little in this book that I didn't agree with. It is a wonderful book that will make you grow in your love for our King Jesus. He brings you back into the culture and gives Jewish perspectives on WHY the events are in the Gospels. He does a wonderful job of giving Jewish perspective without being a "Jewish culture" worshiper. Once I started this book I finished it. I certainly don't finish all books that I start :)

I am thankful to Robby Gallaty for writing this book to give its readers a proper understanding of the "Jewishness of Jesus". In doing so, it has allowed me to better understand intended messages rather than misunderstanding because of my Western perspective. My goal is to learn Biblical truth. While I am blessed to have the Holy Spirit as my helper in understanding Scripture, this is a valuable addition in my quest for truth through a proper understanding. I liked this book so much, I bought a second copy as a gift for a Christian colleague who holds a teaching role within the Church. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is seeking a more accurate understanding of Scripture.

We are homeschoolers and we just purchased this book and CD. WOW! It's going to be perfect for our music co-op class of elementary kids. Short, brief, and with a few fun games. I did also buy, Lives of the Musicians: Good Times, Bad Times, just to add some fun and humor for easier memorization techniques. These lessons can be done in a very short time for those with a very short attention span, while offering 17 lessons/composers. Each composer offers a unique project or activity that is relevant to the composer and/or time period. Very happy with this purchase!

I'm really enjoying this book for my 7 and 9 year old children. We do the activities orally so that I can use this book for multiple children. I only wish my copy had the cd. I purchased this used and the cd was missing. I have been able to find the suggested listening on youtube. There is just the right amount of information on each composer.

I do a "composer series" with my students and love using this and the first edition of this book with my students. It is a nice intro to both the composers and the musical era they are from. I particularly like that this book introduces two female composers since one of the frequent comments from my female students is "Aren't there any female composers." I gave it four stars instead of five because the CD does not list in writing what each of the pieces are that they are listening too.

I bought this book (and book 1) when starting a "Composer of the Month" unit at the two schools I teach music at. These books have provided some nice worksheets and resources to reduce the amount of time preparing for each composer. It covers a wide variety of composers.

My nine-year-old is taking piano lessons, and he loves classical music. He wanted to learn more about the composers, so I ordered this book for him. It's been great. It introduces the composers, the instruments they used, and the historical background. We enjoy listening to the accompanying CD too. After reading this and Book 2, I plan to look for more detailed biographies of his favorite composers.

This is great for teaching kids the basics! I teach a homeschool co-op class on composers and this book is basically all I use for my curriculum. The only thing is that I wish the sample songs on the CD were longer.

I use this with Meet the Great Composers Book 1 for my homeschoolers. The CD that came with is nice to have, but I use youtube to find most of the music. There are great pages inside to help kids understand the lives of the composers. I usually print off each composer for each kid. I teach 5 kids ages 8 -17 so this is good for a range of ages. The 8 year old needs help with the work, but the rest do fine on their own.

My nine-year-old son loves classical music. He's taking piano lessons, and he also enjoys learning about the famous composers and their works. This book plus Book 1 has been very useful. We also enjoy the accompanying CD. The bios are brief but good for children.

About the Author

Mike Seeds was a professor of physics and astronomy at Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, from 1970 until his retirement in 2001. His research interests focused on variable stars and automation of astronomical telescopes. Mike is coauthor with Dana Backman of Horizons: Exploring the Universe, 12th edition (2012); Universe: Solar Systems, Stars, and Galaxies, 7th edition (2012); Stars and Galaxies, 8th edition (2013); The Solar System, 8th edition (2013); and ASTRO, 2nd edition (2013), all published by Cengage. He was senior consultant for creation of the 20-episode telecourse accompanying his book Horizons: Exploring the Universe.

Purchased the e-book version, and something I did not notice until it became the topic in class.... where is part 3???? If there is a trick to accessing the middle section of the book, I may improve the rating; however until then, this lack of information hurts my studies,

I rented this book used. And I have to say from my previous experience with Amazon Student, I'm a bit disappointed with the amount of highlighting and writing that's in the book. It's distracting. But the books in a good condition and it was delivered without any issue. I needed it ASAP so I am happy to have had it on time.
